My Weekend at Manresa
As Guice continued his journey of self-discovery, he came to realize that his relationship with God continues to grow deeper and more fulfilling. He decided to write this book of poetry and prayer, now his seventh in the series, based on a collection of photographs and stories from his Catholic upbringing that he always found intriguing.
This book is about his annual silent retreat that he has made over the last several years at Manresa House of Retreats, a Society of Jesus (Jesuits) retreat center, located in Convent, Louisiana, on the banks of the Mississippi River, midway between Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
My Weekend at Manresa delves into the rich history of Manresa and illuminates the campus's historic buildings, dating back to the 19th Century. It also includes my personal thoughts, prayers, and poetry.

My Wonder Years
This, his fourth book of poetry and short stories, is based on his exciting journey during his first 18 years, as best as he could remember them. Guice took the opportunity to revisit all of the different schools, his favorite and least favorite teachers, his best friends, and a retrospective of what it was like to grow up in beautiful New Orleans during the 1960s and the 1970s, a time we all wish we could return.
Poetic Justice
This sometimes meditative, sometimes irreverent book of poems and short stories is volume three in Guice's series of poetry collections. In Poetic Justice, he shares his thoughts and interpretations of what he sees going on in society, using images found throughout the world, specifically on the Internet and social media. Using an approach he calls "method writing," Jeffrey immerses himself into an image and tries to understand what the person or place depicted might be thinking, allowing his imagination to completely take over, then voicing his opinion on what he sees.
Self-expression and social interaction have never been more available to our collective society as it is now. Jeffrey hopes his collection will allow you to look at your own world a little differently, to go deep into your soul and ask yourself what is going on and how we can all come together in our shared world.
Poetic License
"Poetic License" is an enthralling compilation of poems and short stories that shares the author's eccentric view of the world, people, and places that shape his unusual way of thinking. The poems and stories in this book dive into the author's understanding of his identity as a friend, father, and a normal human being. The concept of "normalcy" is certainly arbitrary and means different things to different people. But it is the author's hope that whoever reads this book will find at least one poem or short story that will make them laugh, cry, or connect on some normal human level.
Most of these poems and short stories started with an actual image, or maybe an initial thought. Whether they start with a dream, a memory, or a totally bizarre visual, these writings dive deeply within – allowing imagination to take over. When writing, Guice attempts to transcend his ego, allowing the words or thoughts to write themselves. In 2021, Guice celebrated his thirteenth year of sobriety. It has only been in the last few years that he has finally come to understand himself – including his shortcomings and insecurities. All of this has helped him reach the point where he felt strong enough to write this book.
Defining Moments
This was Jeffrey’s first foray into figuring out who he was on the inside. "Defining Moments" is his poetic journey within. Prose and poetry are mixed into the lyrical works which express the excitement of discovery and insights gained from a lifetime of travel, plus a bit of introspection.
